Patta Patti as changed Potta Potti

Patta Patti, a film in which cricketer Sadagopan Ramesh plays the hero, has undergone a name change. This film is based on village cricket competitions and its director Yuvraj felt that Ramesh would be more apt for the role and signed him up.
The shooting of this film is complete and the post-production work is on to facilitate a March release to keep up with the Cricket World Cup fever. At this stage, the makers of Patta Patti received a communication from the government that the title cannot be termed as a Tamil word and hence the film would not be eligible for tax sops.
Following this, the filmmakers have decided to rename Patta Patti as Potta Potti.

Anjali is slowly but steadily making Tamil films

Though Anjali debuted a few years back opposite in the film ‘Katradhu Tamizh’ opposite Jiiva, she is referred to as the ‘Angaadi Theru’ girl in the industry. Thanks to her last year’s Vasanthabalan-directed superhit film ‘Angaadi Theru’, Anjali is slowly but steadily making her way to the top in order to achieve her long-time dream of becoming a top heroine in Tamil films.
After the successful ‘Angaadi Theru’, unfortunately, her next film ‘Rettaichuzhi’ didn’t do well despite the fact that debutant director Thamira had done a decent job and that the film starred the legendary directors K. Balachander and Bharathiraaja in lead roles. She also had a forgettable outing in ‘Magizchi’ late last year opposite director-actor Kalanjiyam.
Her latest film ‘Thoonganagaram’ opposite Vimal, though, is said to be doing average business and this has kept the smile in place on her pretty face. “I have realized that post Angaadi Theru, the fans have started expecting a lot from me. Whenever I do roles that don’t offer fodder for my acting talents, the fans do question me and ask me why should I be doing those films.
“My upcoming film, produced by director A.R. Murugadoss, has a very substantial role for me. When I was initially offered the role, I said I was busy but when Murugadoss Sir narrated the story to me, I immediately signed the project as I found the script very compelling. I play Jai’s heroine in the film and have an equal role as that of the hero. This would be one of the most significant films in my career so far,” informs Anjali.

Anjali is doing her first mass movie

The Telugu girl Anjali, born and brought up in Chennai is one of the finest young actors in Tamil cinema.
She is an actress of substance as proved by films like Katradhu Thamizh, Rettai Suzhi and the crowning glory Angadi Theru.
However now she is searching to be accepted as a mass heroine by doing big commercial films.
In an interview to a newspaper Anjali said: “Yes in 2011, I’ plan to choose projects which are commercially viable at the box-office.”
Anjali understands that Tamil cinema will recognise only heroines who do mass films with popular heroes like a Vijay or Ajith. Those seen doing “good cinema” with “realistic directors” never get a call from top commercial directors who want heroines to remain just “eye candy” and songs in exotic foreign locations.
However the actress is said to be fantastic in debutant director Gaurav’s Thoonga Nagaram, in which she plays “a platform artist working for a local channel” in Madurai.
She is paired opposite Vimal in the film which has hit music by Sundar C Babu.
The hit melody song Koorana Paravaigal sung by Hariharan and Chinmayi has been picturised on Anjali and Vimal. Though the song has been shot in Malaysia, it will look like Madurai.
Interestingly Anjali is doing her first mass movie Venkat Prabhu directed Ajith’s Mankatha in which she is paired opposite Vaibhav. Let us hope, Anjali shines among a galaxy of glam girls like Trisha, Sneha and Lakshmi Rai
